Great practice! Remember, the command is "Heel" not "Let's go" as we are tra8ning Denali to work in Heel position on the verbal "Heel" command. While you should have your TC's ready,, only if necessary, don't cue her you may have them. So, the TC is either in a pocket or in your hand as you walk in a normal pace and with both hands moving naturally beside you while moving. WHENEVER SHE DRIFTS AWAY, GET HER BACK INTO HEEL POSITION IMMEDIATELY WITH A LEFT ABOUT TURN and a fast "Heel command". If she drifts more than 6" away from you, put the leash on the live ring of chain collar and work her briskly with lots of turns and immediate Halts to AS. and pace changes.
You never, EVER want her to know you don't have control (via leash), so the key to success is the handler preventing her from drifting away. Week 7 is more about the handler knowing what to do, when, to 'help' their dog succeed.
